Chase and I (Luke)
are both kids who strive to make great hot sauce. That's right, kids. Chase
and I are both 14. My step-father, Chris, is West Indian and he was the one who
taught me the basics of hot sauce. He made hot sauce by putting different
ingredients together by feel instead of using a recipe. It was fun to
make and really good so I decided to make a business out of it.
First, I had to put together
a business plan, create consistence recipes, develop a website…frankly, a lot
of work. The problem was that Chris owns
a medical practice so he wasn’t able to put in all of the time that was needed
to start Demon’s Sauces. So Chase, my long time friend, agreed to join the
business.
We set goals for our
company. We would make it green by making our packaging material from shredded
newspaper, which happens to also be recyclable. We would make our hot sauce
natural by not using any artificial flavors or preservatives. In addition, we would
give a minimum of 10% of our profits to local charities so that we can see the
impact of giving back on the world around us. Though we are still working and
finding ways to improve our business, Demon’s Sauces has done many things to
make the best pepper sauce on the market.
